Overview

Appraise Wise Consulting Group ("Appraise Wise," "we," "us") provides residential appraisal services in Vancouver and the surrounding region. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, and the choices available to you.
‍

We handle personal information in accordance with British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where applicable, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Information we collect

Information you provide directly.
When you submit an order or contact us, we collect the information entered on the form: name, email address, telephone number, property address, the purpose of the appraisal, the date the report is required, and any documents you choose to attach.

Information collected during an engagement.
In the course of preparing an appraisal we may collect property details, photographs taken during inspection, information about occupancy or tenancy, and documentation relevant to value — including surveys, renovation records, prior appraisals, or listing agreements.

Information collected automatically.
[Client to confirm — analytics tools in use, e.g. Google Analytics 4, and what they collect: IP address, browser type, pages visited, referring source.]

Marketing preferences.
If you opt in to our email list, we retain your email address and the fact of your consent.

Why we collect it

Personal information is collected and used to:

  • Assess and confirm the scope of an appraisal assignment
  • Contact you to arrange inspection and confirm terms
  • Prepare and deliver the appraisal report
  • Meet the record-keeping obligations imposed by professional standards, including CUSPAP and the requirements of [client to confirm — Appraisal Institute of Canada, or applicable regulatory body]
  • Respond to enquiries
  • Send marketing communications, where you have consented

We do not use personal information for purposes beyond those stated without obtaining consent.

Property information and third parties

An appraisal necessarily involves information about a property, which may include information about occupants who are not our client. Information collected during inspection is used solely for the preparation of the report.

Where a report is prepared for an intended user other than you — counsel, a lender, a court, or a tribunal — the report and the information it contains will be provided to that user, as established at the time of engagement.

Disclosure

We do not sell personal information. We do not share it with third parties except:

  • To the intended user or users named in the appraisal report
  • To service providers who process information on our behalf [client to confirm — website host, form processor, email platform, cloud storage, payment processor], who are bound to use it only for the purpose of providing that service
  • Where required by law, court order, regulatory obligation, or professional standard

Retention

Appraisal records are retained for the period required by professional standards, currently [client to confirm — CUSPAP record retention period] years from the date of the report. Enquiries that do not result in an engagement are retained for [client to confirm]. Marketing list data is retained until you withdraw consent.

Security

We maintain reasonable safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information held, including [client to confirm — encrypted storage, access controls, secure file transfer]. No method of transmission or storage is entirely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

Under PIPA you may:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Withdraw consent to marketing communications at any time, using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us directly

Withdrawal of consent to the collection of information necessary for an appraisal may mean we are unable to complete the assignment.

Requests for access or correction should be directed to the contact below. We will respond within the timelines PIPA requires.

Cookies

[Client to confirm — whether the site sets cookies, which categories, and whether a consent banner is required. If analytics or advertising cookies are used, this section needs to state what they are and how to opt out.]

Children

Our services are directed to adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of majority.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always posted here with the date of last revision.
